Yes, you’ll need to apply for a permit before you start building your fence. You’ll also need to submit a current certificate of survey giving details about your property and the fence you intend to build.

Your fence can be up to six feet tall, unless your rear property line is the same as your neighbor’s side property line. In that case, your fence has to correspond with your neighbor’s required front lot line setback. That means your fence can be a maximum of four feet tall until you reach the needed distance away from your neighbor's front property line.
